MINDFUL

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have established, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You attend to him?  Psalm 8:3-4

My husband and I have been taking an online class to help us lose weight. One of the classes was on “Mindful Eating.” This was to show us that we can all get into the habit of mindless eating. Popping candy in our mouths without thinking, eating a second piece of pie when we are already full, eating in front of the television, or munching at our desks are just a few examples.

“Mindful” is defined as being conscious or aware of something. We all experience times when we are unaware of people, places, and events. When we become cognizant of reality, we may wonder: How did I get here? Who was there? What did I do? It can be extremely disconcerting.

It is wonderful to understand that our all-knowing God is never unaware of us and perceives our every thoughts and every actions. He sees us, hears us, watches us, guides us, protects us, and most important, He loves us.

The author of Psalm 8, who is thought to be King David, asks the question to God, “Why do you think we are important? Why do you care or notice us?” He is in awe that God would create us a little lower than the angels and would crown us with glory--God’s glory. He is in awe that a God of so many would be mindful and would attend to us.

The Father’s great love for each and every one of us keeps us forever on His mind. When you think no one cares, no one is listening to you, or that you are alone, the Bible tells us that this is a lie. The God of truth loves you so much. He is with you right this very minute speaking to your heart. Listen to His voice, not the voice of lies. When you come to a realization that God is always mindful of you, your heart will swell with joyful thanksgiving. Just like the Psalmist, you may sing, O Lord our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth. Psalm 8:1

Thank you Father God for being constantly mindful of each and every one of us. We love you so. Though Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.
