FEEL MY LOVE

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:22

The message of God’s love for humanity is concise. There is no guesswork in mere words but a true revealing in the life of Christ, which says, “I will always love you, and I am there for you.”

Bob Dylan’s lyrics written in 1997 are the words I would imagine that our Heavenly Father speaks to our hearts: “When the rain is blowing in your face; And the whole world is on your case; I could offer you a warm embrace; To make you feel my love.” In Dylan’s lyrics, can you hear God’s voice calling you to come into His embrace? His arms are spread wide just for you.

“When the evening shadows and the stars appear, and there is no one there to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years; To make you feel my love.” God whispers in your ear, “Come, let me dry your tears. I will love you for eternity.”

“I know you haven’t made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong...No doubt in my mind where you belong.” God created you in His love. His love for you is like no other, and patiently He waits for you to come to Him. He is gently imploring you, “In my arms is where you belong.”

“I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue; I’d go crawling down the avenue; There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do; To make you feel my love.” Christ did precisely this for us. He says, “I came in the flesh, submitted to a crown of thorns and the scourge of a whip. I was black and blue as I crawled down the avenue with the load of a heavy cross on my back. Stripped of my clothes, I accepted humiliation. I agreed to nails in my hands and feet, and I surrendered to a physical death on a hill called Mount Calvary. You see, my child, there is nothing that I wouldn’t do to make you feel my love.”

Can you hear Christ tenderly urging? “I paid the price to give you my gift of grace. There is no amount of space, time, heights, or depths that can separate you from my love. Come and experience that love today.” Let Jesus take the storms that are raging in your heart. Let Him remove you from the highway of regret to the pathway of forgiveness. Let the wind of my Holy Spirit set you free. You haven’t seen anything like His kingdom yet. Come; feel “His love.”

Christ Jesus, I hear your voice calling me. I come! Amen.
