REMOVE YOUR VEIL

We aren’t like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the Israelites couldn’t watch the end of what was fading away. But their minds were closed. Right up to the present day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read.  2 Corinthians 3:13-14

The Old Testament tells the story of Moses when he was leading the Israelite children from Egypt to the Promised Land. He went to Mount Saini to speak to God. When he came down from the mountain, his face was lit up with the glory of God. It frightened the people, so he put a veil over his face until the light faded.

In Corinthians, it says that we, as Christians, are not like Moses. The reason was the Light of the World, Jesus Christ came to this earth as the Word of God, revealing the glory of God. When Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the temple ripped in two. Something happened that was drastic. Our minds and hearts were opened for the first time to approach God personally. Jesus is our mediator.

We now live in the faith of Jesus Christ shining out of us into the world. We are obedient by the prompting of the Holy Spirit without depending on a set of laws and rules written in stone. Our most important commandment, by the Word Himself, is to love God and love others. We live within the confines of an upright moral code, simply because His love through us motivates us to act in love.

Become like the bride who removes her veil for her husband. Look straight into the eyes of Jesus to offer Him your life, your soul, and your body. Let Him kiss you with God's glorious grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Bask in His light of love. Become one with Jesus, and let Him shine out of you.  It will be evident that Christ is in you, not in the Bible that you tote, a cross you carry, or rules you obey, but in your Christ-like attributes of kindness, gentleness, love, and peaceful unity.

Thank you, Jesus, for removing our veils and letting Your light shine. Amen
