THE KEYS TO FREEDOM

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. Colossians 1:13

Through the life and death of Jesus, we have a way to be rescued from the darkness of evil and sin. Through His love, Jesus draws us to His side where He holds the keys to free us from our prison and unlocks the door of captivity. However, darkness and death still surround us.

Even though this gift is for the world, we come to Him individually, in our own time. God allows us this freedom. We are stubborn people. Satan has led some of us to believe that we enjoy living in sin. We think it's fun. It makes us happy, so we remain there in those lies, detained from coming to Christ for a long time. Some of us may never come at all. God's love will pursue those who run from Him. He never gives up on His children.

Yes, evil is alive and well. Forgiven Christians are not immune to the fallout or repercussions of crime and disasters. As Christians, however, we also are surrounded by God and His love. We may be pushed down by evil, but never are we defeated. God's love and strength will prevail, and we have hope for the future.

What is our hope for the future? The Bible says that eventually, death and evil will be destroyed, eradicated forever. The world will be free at last to follow Him. Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess Jesus and give God the glory.

If your knee will bow before Him eventually, why not come bow before Him today? You know that you are not truly satisfied living in your sin. There is a small voice saying that something is wrong. Why not change your wrong to what is best? Come to Christ today, and let Him unlock the door that enslaves you!

Dear Christ Jesus, I come to you today and ask for you to unlock this door of my heart. Free me from the evil that binds me. I confess my sin and ask for forgiveness. Thank you for giving me freedom. Amen.
