HE PITIES US

As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.  Psalm 103:13-14

The hand of God reached down and scooped up the earth. This dirt had minerals and organic matters, and who knows, maybe it had some gold, silver, or diamond dust in its particles. He formed a man that resembled the Father in every way, with arms and legs, all the parts, inward and outwards. The soil infused with God’s DNA was incubated, not in the womb of a woman, but in the hands of God. He blew into the nostrils His breath, filling man’s lungs for the first time ever. Man came to life at that moment.

God gave us life, but then He provided a way for us to have abundant life and life everlasting. He pitied us when we fell into a sinful condition. He knew that our bodies would deteriorate with time, He knew that our physical body of dust would eventually die and return to the dust of the earth. He knew in our sin-sick state, our soul would die also. However, He had sympathy for us and provided a cure for our ailments-- a way for our soul to live on forever. God’s cure was given by Himself in the form of flesh and blood. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the soul of a man was made whole, well, spotless, and alive.

Dust by itself is lifeless, but in the masterful hands of the Creator God, the earth comes to life with His very breath.  All we are and all we have is by the grace of God. With a heart of thanksgiving, we should humble ourselves before the one who pities us, loves us, and remembers our creation. From nothing, He made something beautiful.

Thank you, Father God, for showing pity towards us and for remembering just how You made us. Through Christ Jesus, I pray, Amen.
