DARK OR LIGHT

God said, “Let there be light.” and so light appeared. Genesis 1:3

The first mention of light is found in the first book of the Bible. God spoke light into existence because God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5).  God is good and light is good. Then man and woman, whom God created, chose to sin. The first thing they did was hide, And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:8) Adam and Eve did not stand out in the open light but hid in the shade or the darkness of he trees. They wanted to hide their sin in shame.

Mankind would be plagued with this sickness of sin to live in the dark. We would be separated, by that sin, from God.  God separated the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:4) ...men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. (John 3:19), The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble. (Proverbs 4:19)

God also gave us hope to come out of that darkness. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isaiah 9:2) The light of Israel will become a fire, and his Holy One a flame, and it will burn and devour his thorns and briers in one day. (Isaiah 10:17) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)

Jesus would be the one to fulfill scripture. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. And those who accept Jesus at His word will receive the light. (John 8:12) Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God. (Isaiah 50:10)

Because of the Messiah, Jesus Christ our Lord, we can step out of our darkness. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7) The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. (Matthew 4:16)

We are born in the darkness, but we have the option to choose light. It is a painful process, but only at first, when our sins are exposed in His light. Once we receive His forgiveness, the pain of sin is eradicated. Pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth which cause fear, guilt, sorrow, pain, torment, indecision, and confusion are changed in His Holy Light. His Light will bring us confidence, peace, love, strength, hope, wisdom, and assurance.  Which do you choose today? Step out of the dark and bask in His Light!

Thank you Father God for giving us the Light Of The World. Amen
