SPEAK OUT

Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies.  Psalm 107:2

When we read this particular Psalm, we may ask, “Who had been redeemed from whom?” Psalm 107 presents several poetic stories by an unknown author. It tells of those who were lost in their wanderings, those who were in dark prisons, and those who rebelled. It tells of drunkards and some who sailed off in ships. Each story ends with these people crying out to God to be rescued, and the Lord answered their pleas.

Humanity still cries out to be redeemed from the enemy. But who exactly is the enemy? Many times we see our enemies as the opposing country with which we war. Sometimes we see the enemy as the murderer or the thief. Sometimes we view the enemy as the difficult person at work, or a neighbor, or even a relative. Yes, they come in all forms, shapes, sizes, and disguises. God has many times saved us from these enemies, yet in reality, they are not the true enemy.

Lucifer is our true enemy. Ezekiel 28:16 tells us that It was Satan who weakened people of all nations with His deceitful lies. It is Satan who is internally full of violence and profanity. He is the motivator of all the evil things on earth. He is the one controlling the murderer, cheater, liar, swindler, and thief. He is the one who fills us with greed and pride. He is the one who lures us away from God.

But we can claim triumph over Satan and his evil traps by returning to God in repentance. When we cry out to Him, He hears our pleas. Jesus was the fulfillment of a perfect plan of conquering the enemy. He paid the penalty for sin and was victorious over death and the grave. When we come to Christ, we are the ones who have been retrieved, reclaimed, and restored to God. So now we need to tell others of this victory. Psalms 107:2 says, Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies.

Have you been redeemed? If not, come to the one who has paid the price for your redemption. If you have, then go ahead--speak out! Praise God for His goodness and His wonderful works.

Dear Father, Thank you for redeeming me from the enemy. In Christ I pray, Amen.
