PROVIDED RELIEF

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.  Psalms 68:19

One minister wrote, “God promises that a life of submission will fit us well and provide relief.” However, many of us would never contemplate that submission, a synonym of defeatism, be synonymous with a victory of freedom. Most people feel that to be independent would be freeing, but unfortunately in the process of becoming independent, we are in reality just becoming more dependent on our own selves.

Let’s face it.  We make mistakes, we lack willpower, and we are easily persuaded by our moods and outside influences. Magnifying the “me” actually places us on a precarious pedestal of the harshest kind of self scrutiny. This does not bring relief: It only brings disappointment, doubt, and low self-worth.

Another minister wrote, “How could God wipe away our tears, if we had never cried here on earth?” Many years ago this minister had an accident which left her a paraplegic. She definitely knows tears and hardship. She must daily depend on others to do many things for her. When she cries and her nose is running, she depends on a loving someone to literally wipe her nose and eyes with a tissue. Yet she has learned that by this dependence, she will find relief.

The thing that both these ministers have in common are their dependence on Jesus Christ. At some point in their lives, they made a decision that self control was confining. They both needed relief and true freedom. The day when they relinquished their personal control over to a personal God was the day that they found comfort, privilege, power, and true freedom.

Does a life of submission fit us well and provide us with relief? The answer is yes! We all can find sweet release if we turn over our lives to Jesus. He will carry our heavy loads to make our burdens lighter. We do not have to wait for eternity to obtain this relief. God will give us the respite we so desperately desire right now in the midst of our trials; it’s ours to utilize here on earth. Giving up our independence to become dependant on God through Jesus is the step in the perfect dressing room of God. He will clothe you in His righteousness, and that my friend, is the perfect fit.

Dear Father, I come to you today giving You my heavy load. I am sorry I took so long releasing it to Your capable hands. Thank you for providing relief through Jesus Christ. Amen
