JOYFUL THANKSGIVING

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints...which is Christ in you, the hope of glory!   Colossians 1:26-27

Thanksgiving holiday is upon us. Christians have so much for which to be grateful. Yet even while being filled with God’s grace, many have a complaining attitude. Many act like an abandoned pet sitting on the side of the road. They are filled with self pity, anger, resentment, discouragement, criticism, and discontent. They cry out, “Life is unjust, unfair, cruel, and I can’t forgive some people, but come join me and my griping family. We are royalty. We are children of the Most High God.”  Who in their right mind would be drawn to a family where the members exemplify anything but joyful thanksgiving?

I tell You that we have been greatly blessed. We have a full disclosure of the hidden mysteries of God-- which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him. Ephesians 3:9-12. Wow! We have access to all God has to offer through Jesus Christ. The mystery that was hid in God is no longer a mystery. We not only have the complete revelation but also have a oneness with Him.

Why, oh why do we act like orphans devouring Satan’s deception? Satan knows full well we are Children of the King, yet He knows if He can keep feeding us under the table on his crumbs of self-pity, apathy, inferiority, grudge holding, fretful lies, we will soon become malnourished Christians. The threat of us winning souls to Christ will be minimized. God is calling us to get up off the floor and sit at His table where He has placed before us a heaping bowl His manifold wisdom with dishes of forgiveness, peace, comfort, strength, and hope--all served up on His silver platters of grace and love. Stop complaining and let Him fill you with joyful thanksgiving.

Dear Lord, Help me to realize all the times I complain. Help me to replace my gripes with words of joy and thanksgiving to draw people into the family. Through Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.
