MONSTERS UNDER THE BED

The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.
Psalms 121:7

“Mommy, will you check my room for monsters?” This was a question that my children would sometimes ask before they would be put to bed for the night. So, I would go in the room and check every nook and cranny. I would open the closet door and say, “No monsters in there!” I would look under the bed and repeat the same statement. After my child felt secure that there were no monsters, he/she would go to bed with a less trepidation. We would say our prayers, sing a little song or tell a little story, give kisses and hugs, turn on a small night light, and I could leave the room with my child feeling snuggled, safe and secure.

We may snicker at this, but really, as adults, we are no different. Our “monsters” may be our bosses, our finances, our health, our relationships, or a myriad of other things. We worry about those monsters, lurking, trying to take us down when we are not watching. Just like when the lights are turned off in a child’s room, we become anxious.

Who will go before us and check out our room for monsters? The Bible says in Deuteronomy 31:8, “The Lord himself will go ahead of you. He will be with you. He will never leave you. He’ll never desert you. So don’t be afraid. Don’t lose hope.”

Are you in a situation that seems hopeless? Are you afraid of what the future holds? Are you dreading a change in your life? Does the tunnel of life seem dark and scary with no end in sight? Allow Jesus to be a part of your life. Trust Him as your best friend, your confidant, your Savior, and the lover of your soul.

God will carry you through those times of uncertainty. He will watch over you. Once you belong to Him, the evil one cannot take what is in His hands. He will check out the path ahead of you. He will encourage you to take the correct way. Go to Him and say, “Daddy, will you check my room for monsters?” Your loving Father, will make sure that all is well. Then you can feel safe and sound, as you snuggle securely in His arms of love.

Dear Father,

Thank you for keeping us safe and secure for all eternity.
Through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen
