NEW CREATION

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Look, Mommy, at the picture I colored,” the little girl says with pride. “Watch me, Dad,” the boy exclaims when he finally masters riding a bike. With raising five children, I have learned that children want and need our attention, especially when they have learned or created something new. Children want their parent's approval.

As we grow into adulthood, we still seek approval of our heavenly Father. We try to color our picture of life in a way that would be pleasing and good. However, our rebellious nature would never let us stay within the lines of our coloring book of laws. The laws only proved how out of bounds and imperfect we were. There would be nothing to fix our flawed creation except for one perfect plan. The plan would require three things: a new page, a new color, and a guiding hand.

Our new page would be God’s grace, colored in red by the spilled blood of the Lamb. Jesus, within the love triune of God, would be the human sacrifice. What an unfathomable love of the Godhead this would be, to agree upon this painful plan. The wisdom of the Holy Spirit would then be our steady, guiding hand helping us to color a new life of His peace, hope, and love.

If we are still trying to obtain grace through laws, rules, and regulations, we might as well be riding an old wobbly bike with bad tires, a loose chain, and out-of-line handlebars. We will most likely fall the moment we say to the Father, “Look at me.”

A plan was implemented to fulfill the old, thus making the old ineffective. In Christ, when we say to the Father, “Look at me,” He will see the new creation of Christ in us. When we allow Him to do His work in us, we will be a masterpiece.

Dear Father, Thank you for making me into Your new creation. Through Christ, I pray, Amen.
