CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATH

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATH

Then he set up the Lord’s altar and offered fellowship offerings and thank offerings on it. He gave a command for all the people of Judah to serve the Lord, the God of Israel. 2 Chronicles 33:16

Manasseh was only a twelve-year-old little boy when he became king of Judah. His father Hezekiah was a good king who worshipped the true God, but each person picks a path for themselves. I am sure that Manasseh made some very bad decisions as an adolescent, and once he picked this evil path, he was stuck on a path of destruction. He led his people astray, built obscene shrines, desecrated God’s holy temple, and even went so far as to sacrifice his own son.

Manasseh ignored the warnings from God, so God had to bring Manasseh to his knees. 2 Chronicles 33:11,  So the Lord brought commanders from the king of Assyria’s army to attack Judah. These commanders captured Manasseh and made him their prisoner. They put hooks in him and brass chains on his hands and took him to the country of Babylon. At this point, Manasseh, in his misery, comes to his senses. He turns to God and pleads for mercy. God hears his cries, takes pity on him, and restores him to his kingdom.

Manasseh was a much better king after this. He rebuilt the walls of the city, tore down the false idols, restored the altar of the Lord, and set an example to his people in worshipping the one true God.

Are you on a path that is leading to destruction? Can you feel love tapping you on the shoulder, urging you to turn around?  When God’s hand is upon you and you willfully choose disobedience, you may be brought to a place that is so very low that you are forced to look up. You can avoid this if you turn from your wicked way now and repent. God will restore and redeem you just as He did to Manasseh. Search God and pick His path of righteousness. He will bless you beyond all measure.
Dear Father in Heaven, Help me to make decisions based in Your will for my life. Through Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.
